Just reminding myself...

It's easy to forget that I'm on a different continent right now and in a different hemisphere (north-south wise, of course,  not east-west wise). I'm a lot closer to Antarctica than to even southern Mexico right now, and I'll be even closer a week from now!

According to some (very) rough measurements in Google Earth:

South Africa and Mexico are about equally far from here (approx. 4000 miles)

The Antarctic Peninsula is about as close as Lima, Peru (approx. 1900 miles)

Swarthmore is about 5300 miles away.

I'm about 5100 miles from NC.

Australia is still REALLY far (7600 miles)
